During 2nd to 4th April, 2017, led by adviser Fang Tao, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Youth League Committee organized the School Model United Nations Club to participate in the 4th Session Model United Nations Conference in Anqing City, which consisted of four Chinese assembly rooms, one English venue and a Media Center. Student representatives from Anqing Foreign Language School attended the discussion session in the English venue and the coverage work in the Main Media Center. They showcased their great initiative and diligent attitude. More noticeably, students Xia Chengqi and Cai Haiyue had the honor to obtain the Honorable Mention Awards!
To sum up, from the previous participation experiences, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Model United Nations Club had some existing issues and vulnerabilities which required further reinforcement in later periods. Compared with other schools, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Model United Nations Club did not give full play to the training and guidance of the experienced candidates. What’s more, most participants represented Anqing Foreign Language School in the grand event for the first time and lacked competition experience. Despite the fact that our representatives were presented with the conference flow and the simulated assembly process, they still did not respond in a timely manner when faced with unexpected issues. However, it was noteworthy that our students never gave up easily. Instead, they demonstrated their positive coping style from beginning to end, confronted difficulties bravely, solved problems by all means, prepared earnestly beforehand, conducted reflective summing up afterwards as well as showcased their higher capacity of solidarity and cooperation. Therefore, we firmly believe that through this experience and toughening, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Model United Nations Club shall exhibit more incredible performance in next year’s conference in municipal level.
